Odetics Wins Roswell Upgrade Based On Success of Pramer Operations

LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 10, 2000--Odetics Broadcast, a leader in on-air automation and content management solutions, Monday announced the Latin American cable provider Pramer has signed a contract to double the channel capacity of its Roswell(TM) Content Management System.

The upgraded system will support 12 automated channels and enable its main facility in Buenos Aires, Argentina to operate more efficiently.

The contract for the six-channel upgrade is valued at over $500,000 with the new capacity scheduled to be online in July 2000. The facility's Roswell system was originally installed with six channels in September 1999, according to Steven L'Heureux, Odetics vice president of sales and marketing.

Pramer operates one of the largest cable networks in Latin America. Its programs are received by over eight million households in Argentina, Latin America and Spain and the network reaches the Spanish-speaking population in the United States.

The new channels are expected to improve efficiency and performance. Cristian Soto Arriaga, Pramer operations manager said, "Roswell has proven to be an extremely efficient and reliable content management system. Based on our experience over the previous six months, we are automating additional channels to ensure on-air reliability and to increase productivity.

"We pride ourselves on using advanced technology to enhance our broadcasting services. Roswell is delivering the highest level of control possible."

Pramer has been able to optimize commercial insertion timing and reduce the possibility of human error since it installed the Roswell system, among other benefits. It expects to continue reducing labor requirements and to gain other efficiencies from the channel upgrade, according to Pramer's Arriaga.

The Roswell Content Management System streamlines broadcast operations with complete workflow automation for the entire facility. It is built around industry standards and its integrated approach allows control of all operations under a single management system. Roswell supports both analog and digital programming, providing a transition to Digital TV (DTV) and Web-based broadcast services.
